Vinson Hall Retirement Community (VHRC), a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community. Our beautiful campus is located in McLean, VA. We are currently seeking an energetic team player to join our team as an experienced Sous Chef.

The primary responsibilities for this position include:
  • Operational Oversight: Responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the culinary program and multiple dining venues.
  • Menu Development: Collaborates in developing menus, recipes, and production plans for the culinary team.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensures product specifications and maintains quality assurance for all food and non-food supplies.
  • Inventory Management: Manages the process to maintain inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Team Development: Provides training and evaluates culinary team members and utility team members.
  • Production Planning: Plans daily production, reviews production amounts, and continuously analyzes kitchen operations for improvements in product quality and resident satisfaction.
  • Sanitation & Compliance: Inspects kitchen operations daily to ensure adherence to sanitation and food handling protocols.
  • Budget Management: Assists in developing departmental budgets and manages fiscal budgetary aspects for associated direct and food costs.
  • Record Keeping: Prepares and maintains records, reports, and paperwork related to dining services operations.
  • Special Functions: Participates in catering special functions and contributes to planning and implementing special holiday menus when required.


Requirements

Requirements for this position include:
  • Culinary Expertise: Extensive experience in culinary arts and a strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu creation.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and supervise kitchen staff, manage operations efficiently, and contribute to a high standard of food quality and safety.
