Job description

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP ( M&R ) a private public interest law firm in Washington D.C. with a practice focused on class action litigation in the areas of Consumer Protection and Wage Theft seeks a Legal Assistant / Paralegal / Operations Assistant. This is a rare opportunity for a talented college graduate interested in public interest law to become an integral part of a busy practice.


About the Job

The Legal Assistant / Paralegal will handle a broad range of administrative and substantive responsibilities for our small but busy law office. Responsibilities may include social media marketing related to cases and potential cases; general administrative tasks, including assistance with bookkeeping (Quickbooks Online), entering financial transactions on an online banking platform, coordinating benefits administration, answering phones, and data entry; investigation of potential cases through online research; drafting, editing, and filing legal documents; communicating with clients including in the preparation of declarations that may be submitted to courts; research and writing projects; and other tasks as assigned. The successful applicant will be exposed to a variety of challenging projects and will gain valuable experience.


Qualifications

We are looking for a bright and energetic college graduate with an interest in the work we do and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. A qualified candidate should be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects and effectively solve problems while remaining calm in deadline-driven situations. This job may be well-suited for a college graduate who is contemplating law school. Relevant work experience, particularly in a law office setting, is preferred. We also prefer a candidate with online marketing experience, bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks, and familiarity with Microsoft Excel. Fluency in Spanish is also preferred.


Compensation

Pay will be at an hourly rate of $19.25 an hour with eligibility for bonuses, limited student loan payment assistance, and health insurance. The position will be classified as non-exempt and, therefore, eligible for overtime pay. Expected hours worked are open for discussion.
