Responsible for the preparation, review, and filing of tax and information returns and reports as required by Federal, State and Local taxing authorities for WVUHS and subsidiary companies as assigned. Maintains knowledge of current tax laws and guidance and applies them appropriately within the WVUHS organization. Directly supervises the work and development of assigned Accounting department staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor of Science with a major or concentration in Accounting or Finance.

EXPERIENCE:

1.Four years' experience in specialized accounting areas of taxation and exempt organizations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Certified Public Account (CPA) Certification.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Hospital based or healthcare experience preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Prepare, evaluate, and file accurate tax and information returns for WVUHS and subsidiary companies with Federal, State and Local taxing authorities in a timely manner.

2. Review tax filings of other WVUHS subsidiary companies to ensure consistency in tax reporting throughout WVUHS and provide feedback to CFOs as applicable.

3. Present tax filings in a clear and concise manner to Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, and applicable Board Committees.

4. Review monthly sales and use tax accruals for WVUHS entities as necessary.

5. Prepare and file tax refund claims for WVUHS entities as necessary.

6. Provide guidance related to areas of taxation to other WVUHS subsidiary companies.

7. Coordinate community benefit reporting at WVUHS hospitals as assigned. Provide education regarding community benefit reporting to other WVUHS hospitals as requested.

8. Maintain knowledge of current tax laws and guidance impacting WVUHS and subsidiary companies. Apply the laws and guidance appropriately with respect to all tax matters within WVUHS.

9. Prepare business license filings for new WVUHS entity locations and maintain current business filings as assigned.

10. Provide guidance related to taxability of payments to non-employees.

11. Research tax related issues to provide necessary guidance.

12. Review agreements, contracts, leases, etc. and document findings as they relate to private business use and unrelated business income for WVUHS entities.

13. Assist in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes.

14. Develop strong relationships with WVUHS CFO's, Controllers, and Accounting Managers to help coordinate and monitor tax filings.

15. Directly supervise the work and development of assigned Accounting department staff.

16. Coordinate other staff duties to accomplish goals and objectives. Delegate projects/duties as necessary.

17. Train new personnel and monitor their progress.

18. Develop and submit analytical financial data as requested by senior level management.

19. Participate in educational opportunities as provided by the hospital to enhance skill related abilities.

20. Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
