St. Veronica School in Mt. Carmel, OH is seeking a part-time Assistant Cook.
The Assistant Cook provides meals for the school. This position is part-time; working less than 30 hours per week and does not include medical or dental insurance. This position reports to the Cafeteria Manager.
**Responsibilities and Regular Activities:**
* Carves portions of meat, fish and fowl for individual servings using the accepted guidelines;
* Prepares salads, desserts, fruits and vegetables;
* Provides cooking services for lunches at the school;
* Provides special meals when requested;
* Cleans up kitchen after meals and washes dishes.
**Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:**
* Cook a variety of meals;
* Present pleasant welcoming manner;
* Thorough knowledge of cooking and cleaning kitchen;
* Ability to lift 35 pounds;
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
**Education, Training and Experience:**
* Must be Serve Safe Certified or attend the class and pass the test;
* High School diploma is preferred with formal training in the food service field and/or nutrition and dietetic training are highly desirable;
* Knowledge of state and local regulations;
* Work experience in food service in a facility of comparable size.
**Work Environment:**
* School Cafeteria may involve working with equipment and machinery including heating, cooling, slicing;
* May be exposed to a variety of cleaning chemicals.
