JMS Event-Driven Processing Developer - FS Poly Bethesda, MD

Job description

**JMS Event-Driven Processing Developer - FS Poly**

Bethesda, MD Our client's 15-engineer team has been doing AWS and C2S cloud-native development since 2015. Their software is a lynchpin of DNI's Trusted Workforce Initiative, streamlining security clearance processing for the Intelligence Community and other federal agencies, including civilian govt. The project is super high-visibility, has 6 years of additional funding in place, and has no overall expected end date. Our client's CEO originated the project, is its overall leader and Chief Architect. They are extremely trusted by the customer, and they make the project hiring and staffing decisions. This was one of the first Intel Community programs to utilize AWS/C2S, and it has both high-side and low-side development on this platform, with many different components of AWS involved: Lambda, EC2, SQS, SNS, and more. They also make extensive use of Web Services, Microservices, Event-Driven Processing (JMS and other asynchronous messaging frameworks), Java, Spring, Tomcat, DynamoDB, and MySQL. Angular is used for the front-end, but most of the work is back-end. The size of both data collection and processing are growing, so thread-safe multithreaded computing is key to scalability, with design patterns and scalable data access patterns to transport/process large data files being used. With both high-side and low-side instances, you'll also encounter Cross Domain Solutions. The team is also using Tableau and looking at metrics. Longer-term, they expect to add an additional focus on Analytics, with possible options for inclusion of machine learning / AI. Overall, there is a HUGE amount to learn on this effort, and your CEO / Tech Lead can also be your technical mentor. Additionally, the customer relies on our client for continued technical innovation and investigation of new technologies that can help the project, so this is a place where your ideas will be heard and can be explored. As the work continues to expand, opportunities may exist to grow into technical leadership roles, for those Developers who seek such a path. This team regularly has needs for Java Software Engineers who have a solid understanding of web services, event-driven processing, microservices, and AWS. Direct experience in several of those is desired, but you can also do some on-the-job learning if you have a solid understanding but not much experience in one or two areas. There are also opportunities for AWS DevOps Engineers. The team works primarily in Bethesda, MD, and a TS/SCI + FS Poly clearance (through either Langley or Ft. Meade) is required to join the project.
