**Description**

Ellsworth, an industry leading global distributor of specialty chemicals and equipment currently has a Buyer Strategic opportunity at Ellsworth Adhesives, located in Germantown, WI.

The Buyer Strategic reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for executing department strategy involving overall Supplier and product Management. This will include performing management of Supplier lines including strategic plans, inventory levels, performance issue resolution and category management. Requires a technical knowledge sufficient to deal with problems concerning materials, shelf-life, supplier policies, and overall customer satisfaction. The Buyer Strategic will need to function as part of Buying team to ensure complete coverage of the overall category and Suppliers managed by the team. Additionally, the Buyer Strategic actively supports continuous improvement efforts and is a resource in both knowledge and experience for the department.

**REQUIREMENTS**

* Associates degree (college or technical) and 5+ years of related industrial experience and/or training.

* Professional Supply Management or Purchasing Certification preferred.

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* To perform this job successfully individuals must be proficient on a personal computer and have knowledge of ERP Systems, Database Software, Intelex, Distribution Systems, Internet Software, Inventory Software, Order Processing Systems, Spreadsheet Software and Word Processing Software.

* Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10lbs

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Responsibility for the overall Supplier relationship. The Buyer Strategic will act as the main point of contact for all cost negotiations and increases, work with ESRs and sales on any Special Pricing Agreements, be responsible for all Supplier Maintenance and maintain the most current contact information within the Ellsworth ERP system. The Buyer Strategic will also work with their top Suppliers to form Annual Strategic Plans in an effort to improve overall efficiencies across operations.

* The forming/maintaining of relationships within the Suppliers Organizations in order to act as an escalation point for any issue that may arise within the organization. Examples of escalations could include expedites, sales and customer service questions / concerns, customer specifications, product conformity, logistics, and any other business needs as they arise. Also responsible for the communication of all Supplier, product, and quality notifications across the business.

* Responsible for the overall inventory health of the Supplier lines of their team to provide optimal material availability for Ellsworth customers. This includes stocking levels of product as well as the shelf life review of these items to ensure minimal scrap. Stocking locations for product to ensure availability across the United States stocking locations. Working with ESRs and sales on IMP levels and actions for IMPs that are on hold. Forecasting of product to ensure that we have the correct product mix and product levels as business fluctuates.

* Looks proactively at trends within their lines to help minimize Supplier issues. This could include RMAs, discrepancies, scrap, or any other Supplier issue that may arise from Buyer Customer Care team, Sales, or Customer Service. The Buyer Strategic will be responsible for the overall Supplier Accountability of the Suppliers within their team and will actively work with Quality to resolve all CARs and SCARs. They will also work with their Suppliers proactively on any Scorecard issues in an effort to maintain the standard prior to the issuance of any Corrective Actions.

* Will work within the Strategic Buyer team to become a Subject Matter Expert within their role. Will also be involved in forming and conducting the training for any individuals within the team and be responsible for any JWIs within this function.

* Able to complete purchasing order management and customer care responsibilities as needed

* Actively seeks continual improvement in the Supply Chain through costs savings / cost avoidance efforts, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.

* Perform general office duties and other related functions, as required by the Purchasing Manager.
