Personal Assistant to Retired Academic (Embassy Row, Washington DC)


Retired statistician, young grandmother, and competitive ballroom dancer seeks Personal Assistant to help with varied aspects of her life. She has recently started taking care of her 3-year-old grandson, and has neglected to keep up with many tasks she used to do on a regular basis. She wants someone to do them so her life can run more smoothly, so she can take better care of her husband (an academic and businessman), and most important, herself. 1/3 of the position will be taking care of the grandson, who is precocious and easy.


Requirements include:

- BA/BS from competitive US college

- Minimum 3 years assistant work or equivalent

- Experience taking care of young children

- Facility with software and apps including Excel, Dropbox and Airtable

- A real appreciation for the arts, such as fine art, dance, opera, theater

- An aptitude for decorating and sourcing

- An overall sense of maturity and orientation regardless of age

- Ability to communicate information without worrying unduly about its impact

- Knowing Spanish is a plus but not required


Responsibilities include:

- Calendar / Reservations

- Travel planning

- Creating organization systems for computer, phone, and maintaining systems already in place

- Childcare, including driving him to appointments and parents home in Cleveland Park

- Identify cultural activities, in DC and other places, that are of interest

- Consolidating videos

- Working with principal to get better furniture for the home

- Sourcing other necessary items

- Identify IT person to update home systems

- Go through paper mail and email

- Errands


M-F 10-6, some flexibility needed

$100K-$120K/year (depending on experience)
