The Windows Server Engineer will support the US Postal Service in its Engineering HQ facility in Merrifield, VA. The Engineer will provide an end-to-end solution to the stakeholders, while keeping in mind the IT security policy. The Engineer must possess a broad understanding of hardware and software technology and its application in the business environment including datacenter establishment.

The Windows Server Engineer will suggest improvements to and optimize the process of Windows Server deployments. The Engineer will also document the server deployment process and validate process documents through deployment applications.

The following are the core Windows Server Engineer responsibilities:

  • Install and configure Windows Server Operation System per environmental specifications.
  • Establish Windows Server images, to include custom support applications.
  • Apply Windows Server images to server hardware.
  • Deploy Windows Servers to site and validate operability.
  • Optimize and improve Windows Server imaging and deployment process.
  • Document the Windows Server imaging and deployment processes.
  • Track assets as they are deployed and report progress of deployments to management.
  • Understanding of Server Hardware across multiple vendors, including iLO functionality.
  • Understanding of and the ability to create disk redundancy through the use of RAID configurations.
  • Configure Windows Active Directory Domain Controllers.
  • Create and deploy Group Policy.
  • Configure Windows Domain Services (DNS, WINS, etc.).
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN/VLAN, TCP/IP, UDP.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Must have at least 6 years of full lifecycle Windows Server experience with working knowledge of LAN/WAN/VLAN, TCP/IP, UDP; multiple hardware; and RAID configurations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or IT. Years of experience may be used in lieu of education, but must be in addition to the minimum years of experience required.
