Job Title: Cyber Security Engineer
Location: Crownsville MD (hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:
The client is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert on all aspects of cyber engineering and centralized cyber service development. This role involves participating in cross-functional teams and contributing to the improvement of state cybersecurity services/solutions.

The Cyber Engineer(s) will support the implementation and design of the state s overall cyber engineering efforts and is responsible for the statewide cyber services. This position serves as a subject matter expert on all aspects of cyber engineering and centralized cyber service development participates in cross functional teams as a cyber engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a core contributor on multi-disciplinary project teams (internal staff and contractor staff) to improve the State cybersecurity services/solutions and respective implementation, including requirements development.
  • Work with stakeholders to assess legacy systems and identify opportunities for improved cyber security of future systems.
  • Lead technical solutioning to address agency intake requests and operational requirements.
  • Assess solutions for implementation within the State as part of centralized services.

General Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in cyber security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.

Specialized Experience:
  • Specific experience in engineering and implementing cyber solutions.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams as a cyber engineer.
  • Experience leading solution assessment and requirements development and alignment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
  • Experience as a cyber engineer supporting Endpoint Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Firewall, (P)DNS, SSL, CDN, and other core cyber services.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.
  • Project management skills, with experience in planning, scheduling, and monitoring the delivery of cybersecurity services.

Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are preferred.
