The NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) is the country s first and foremost civil and human rights law organization. Founded in 1940 under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall, who subsequently became the first Black U.S. Supreme Court Justice, LDF was launched at a time when the nation s aspirations for equality and due process of law were stifled by widespread state-sponsored racial inequality. From that era to the present, LDF s mission has been transformative to achieve racial justice, equality, and an inclusive society.LDF s litigation, public policy advocacy and public education programs in the substantive areas of criminal justice, economic justice, education and political participation seek to ensure the fundamental and basic human rights of all people to quality education, economic opportunity, the right to vote and fully participate in democracy, and the right to a fair and just judicial system.The Deputy Manager for Civic Engagement will help lead LDF s civic engagement and voter education efforts through the [VRD/PTV] Project. The Deputy Manager will develop a strategy and implement LDF s outreach to voters and partner organizations to encourage participation in democracy through voting, elections, and holding elected officials accountable. We are looking for someone who has great political sense and knowledge of campaigns, elections, politicians, outside groups, and/or voting rights. The ideal candidate should possess a good understanding of the elections process. The Deputy Manager will report to the Senior Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives.Responsibilities:

Strategize with the [VRD] Manager to create targeted nonpartisan voter communication plans and materials. Oversee or directly write public content such as emails, newsletters, surveys, social media posts, press releases, video scripts, and more;Supervise a Voting Rights Digital Organizer in their efforts to create engaging and effective voter engagement, public education, and targeted campaign materials and to administer internal systems to manage volunteer and voter outreach efforts;Supervise Voting Rights Field Coordinators in their community engagement and voter outreach efforts;Collaborate with internal partners and other departments to ensure alignment across the organization on all aspects of messaging on all intersecting initiatives, projects, campaigns, and statements; andOther duties as assigned within the general scope of the position.Qualifications:

Advanced Degree, preferred;Minimum of 8 years of experience in elections, politics, voting rights, organizing, or communicationsCommitment to the racial justice mission of LDF;Ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail.This is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts or requirements or working conditions associated with the job.
