We're on a mission to change the way families access healthcare and public benefits, and we do it in a place you'd least expect - laundromats!About the Role:As an Outreach Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of Fabric's expansion, engaging with communities in DC and Maryland. Spend your days building connections, understanding a family's needs, and guiding them through essential applications. This is not just a job; it's a chance to redefine how healthcare support is delivered!What You'll be Getting Into:Building relationships with families in laundromatsUnderstanding the unique needs of these families and identifying where they need supportAssisting families with public benefits applications like Medicaid, SNAP, and LIHEAP, as well as helping them navigate their health plansMaking referrals to external resourcesTraits We Value:Empathy: Understand and connect with families to provide genuine supportAdaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment and embrace new challengesInitiative: Take the lead in building relationships and identifying needsCommunity-Centric: Believe in the power of community and its impact on well-beingQualifications:In-person laundromat engagement: Willingness to work inside laundromats, creating meaningful connections (don't worry - you don't have to do laundry!)Weekend availability: Consistent availability on weekends, the prime time for laundry!Reliable transportation: Navigate different locations in DC, Prince George's County, and Montgomery CountyExperience with high-needs populations: Background in supporting vulnerable communitiesTech savvy: Comfort with and desire to learn new technologiesNice to Haves:Fluency in SpanishFamiliarity with state benefit applicationsAmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to applySalary and Benefits:$25 - 27/hr.Full-time employees receive a PTO plan, generous monthly medical stipend, and equity options.Candidates may be subject to background checks and reference checks.
