BASIC FUNCTION:

The Program Manager (PM) will support the National Associate & Regional Director (NARD) with creating, implementing, and executing various programs and initiatives for the Howard University and PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship ("the Center"). The PM will work with the NARD to lead programs that provide opportunities for Black-owned businesses and grow capacity for supporting ecosystems of Black entrepreneurs. This individual will serve as a critical broker between colleagues, students, the University, and the broader community. In this position, the PM will assist the NARD in the responsibility of developing curriculum and co-curricular activities, creating lecture opportunities for executive leaders, managing and establishing relationships across the University and within varying sectors, creating program timelines, marketing program opportunities, and any other related duties to help the success of the Center. In addition, the PM will assist the NARD in measuring program outcomes, tracking quantifiable data and statistical evidence to qualify the success of the Center. This will include tracking student and entrepreneur success and recommending improvements to assure the success of the Center.

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Program Manager will assist the NARD to formally plan and coordinate programs for the Center in the Mid-Atlantic region, along with scaling programmatic impact across the country.

The PM will be a university leader who will continue to drive the institution-wide culture of innovation and best practices. This leader will foster a vibrant work environment and be a trusted advisor and partner to the senior leadership team and the University community.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist in the development, administration, and evaluation of major national and regional programs.
  • Work collaboratively with external community organizations and partners to plan and implement programs.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff at regional university locations and other HBCUs to plan and implement programs.
  • Attend local and national events, workshops, and convenings to support program recruitment and engagement.
  • Coordinate communication internally and externally to share program logistics, expectations, guidelines, and updates.
  • Perform specialized administrative functions, including program coordination and evaluation, data collection and recommending program changes.
  • Prepare reports and records on program activities, progress, status, or related special reports.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, or conferences with high impact on participants.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Experience in creating and/or managing educational programming.
  • Experience with academic institutions and/or entrepreneurship preferred.
  • Commitment to solving complex issues around inequities related to race, color, social, economic, and political circumstances and become a driver of change.
  • Skilled in data collection and analysis to measure programming outcomes.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, students and sponsors.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree preferred and significant relevant experience in program development/management required.
