**Description**
The Planning Manager is responsible for establishing demand forecasts using various projections, tests and historical data. Leads Merchandise Planners while managing category level sales by assessing trends, promotions and assortment variability to ensure that the financial strategy is consistent with the brand growth plan. Reports to Planning Director.
Must possess the ability to:
Highlight business opportunities and risks associated with the current financial plan and actual performance of the business
Develop and recommend solution-based strategies to maximize upside opportunities and mitigate risk
Present analysis in weekly business meetings, monthly Merchandise Planning Reviews and pre-season alignment meetings
Lead and manage the Merchandise Planning team in the development, analysis and revision of sales, inventory, markdowns and profit
Ensure that the financial strategy is consistent with KPIs
Maintain opportunity and risk assessment models that are used to determine buy levels and maintain profitability
Hire, coach and develop a quality team including succession planning and regular performance reviews focused on team and individual development plans
Provide the leadership and the necessary formal and informal training, including one-on-one development, needed to produce a team that contributes consistent financial growth to the business
Work with cross functional partners to ensure proper support and coordination of merchandise issues including Procurement, Allocation, Merchandising and Finance
Lead the Merchandise Planning team in achieving business performance objectives through the development, analysis and revision of sales plans consistent with departmental goals and parameters
Champion change by challenging the status quo and champion new initiatives; act as catalyst of change
Promote an inclusive culture with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion
Maintain clear focus on key initiatives to build business strategies and plans
**Qualifications**
Bachelors degree required
Prior supervisory experience in MP&A 2+ yrs.
5-7 years of retail merchandise or demand planning experience
Communicate and present complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels to influence strategies and decisions
Strong retail math, problem solving and analytical skills
Works well under pressure managing multiple demands with competing priorities while allocating time effectively with an edit to focus mindset
Able to evaluate current and prior performance to predict future outcomes and make recommendations
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team including: implementing process change, managing execution, decision making skills. Champion new ideas and initiatives.
Excellent organizational, prioritizing and problem-solving skills
Microsoft Office (Excel required, PowerPoint required, Word a plus, MicroStrategy a plus, Access a plus)
Strong system acumen, JDA experience a plus
Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills
