Job description

Generally, the OTA Director of Communications will lead the Association s marketing and communications efforts, and oversee the Association s brand, image, and industry reputation with membership and external stakeholders. This person will proactively find new and innovative ways to keep members informed and engaged and ensure quality control of all information released by the Association. The OTA Director of Communications will work with the Executive Director, and other staff as appropriate, in carrying out the following duties:PublicationsServe as the managing editor and designer for the bimonthly magazine, Ohio Township NewsAssist in the creation of digital, video, and audio content utilized by the OTADesign, edit, and format other publications, including regular member emailsMedia RelationsCoordinate communications with the media, including quotes and background informationSet the OTA s press strategy and prepare, write, and edit press releases for distribution to media and OTA membersDevelop and maintain relationships with the pressEventsAttend Winter Conference, Board and County Officer Meetings, and Golf Outing

Serve as primary marketer and editor, designer, ad manager, and writer as neededServe as photographer and photo editorProvide assistance to other staff where needed

Other events when requested by the Executive DirectorAdminister the OTA Scholarship programCreate online scholarship form and portal to maintain database of applicantsCoordinate scholarship review teamsDevelop correspondence for winners and non-winners; publicize winnersPromote the organization in a positive and professional manner at all timesServe as primary writer, editor, and designer for the OTAWork with Director of Governmental Affairs to promote OTA legislative interestsSupervise and assist the Public Relations and Events Coordinator with magazine ads, newsletter publication, content creation, uploading website text, and managing the OTA social media accountsQualifications for PositionFive to seven years experience is requiredImpeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities, graphic design, layout, and publishingExperience with the Microsoft Office suite; Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Photoshop; Canva, and Constant ContactAbility to proactively manage multiple projects and stakeholders at one time; ability to quickly shift priorities and creatively solve problems; ability to work independently; professional and self-motivatedExperience in nonprofit or public sector is preferred
