The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, documentation, and maintenance of enterprise local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
Also supports the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication links.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, electrical engineering, or related field of study. Additional years of equivalent education or related experience in the technology industry may be considered in lieu of degree. The following relevant certifications are preferred:
CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional
CCIE: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
MCSA: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate
MCSE: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
Position requires 4-6 years in network administration and/or engineering roles in enterprise scale environments in a commercial setting with a large user base and demanding service level requirements. Relevant experience includes:
demonstrated experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation;
familiarity with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices;
network connection, hardware, and software troubleshooting experience;
hands-on technical knowledge of network and windows based server and PC operating systems and familiarity with network systems, protocols, and standards;
experience working in a switched and routed environment;
hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience;
working technical knowledge of current SPHS network hardware;
skilled at installing/ configuring hubs, switches, routers, bridges, etc.;
knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures;
