Role Summary:

As a Threat Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting mission-critical analyses for the US Government Intelligence Community and Defense Agencies. Working on-site in Bethesda, MD, alongside a cutting-edge threat research team, you'll dive deep into data, extracting hidden nuances to construct a strategic defense.

Directly supporting client-driven data analysis, you'll produce finished intelligence reports on technical topics like emerging threats, nation-state capabilities, malicious infrastructure tracking, and new TTPs. Your expertise in data analysis techniques and profound understanding of the web's intricacies will enable you to transform scattered information into actionable insights.

This role directly contributes to enhancing national security by providing essential intelligence support to defense and intelligence agencies.

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct threat research across technical data sets fusing Censys provided data with third-party datasets.
  • Produce finished threat reports and provide technical support to briefings.
  • Work amongst a team of security researchers and data scientists who require cyber threat acumen to influence their data analysis and threat modeling needs.
  • Develop signatures to identify and track malicious actors or vulnerable Internet-connected infrastructure.
  • Stay abreast of developments within the cyber threat landscape and track key developments across a range of data sources.
  • Collaborate with Research, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure that Censys remains at the leading edge of Internet Intelligence.
What You'll Bring:
  • TS/SCI Clearance + Full Scope Poly or CI Poly
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Security and/or Threat Intelligence
  • Strong technical background in computer security, including experience conducting threat analysis research
  • The skills and aptitude to distill complete data into clear reports and formats
  • 3+ years experience with internet scanning and analysis tools such as ZMAP, NMAP, TCPDUMP
  • Operational knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., DNS, BGP, TCP/IP, IPv4/6)
  • Familiarity with analytic tradecraft, intelligence analysis, and writing techniques and methodologies specific to threat analysis
  • Strong background in conducting data analysis using SQL and Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; unwavering attention to detail and ability to convey complex technical and non-technical concepts
Bonus Points:
  • Previous experience with internet scanning tools like Censys
  • MA/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field
  • Knowledge of open source cyber-intelligence gathering tools and techniques


Our target salary range for this role is between $170,000 and $210,000 with bonus eligibility and equity.
