JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a 1.0 FTE located in the Department of Student Services.
All Teachers hired after January 15th are considered termed employees. This position is a termed position that is effective for FY24 through June 14, 2024 only. You would need to re-apply for a position for FY25.
The Intervention Counselor provides school-based mental health services to students who require either targeted or intensive assistance in building behavioral and/or social-emotional skills. Intervention Counselor run small-groups and provide individual services using evidence-and-research based programs (e.g. Student Success Skills, Coping Cat/C.A.T. Project, Support for Students Exposed to Trauma), and may lead and support crisis response teams in their buildings as well as schools across the district. Provides direct support to school teams district-wide in identifying, planning, and implementing intervention strategies. Trains district personnel, teachers, para-professionals, principals, and other school staff in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). Works with school teams to develop comprehensive approaches to intervention management that includes evaluation, data collection, and regular monitoring. Participates in team meetings, IEP conferences, placements, and annual reviews. Performs related work as required.
