In the role of Director of Accounting, you will assume a leadership position, overseeing and guiding various critical aspects of our accounting management process. Your primary mission is to uphold the highest standards of financial accuracy and ensure strict compliance with SEC guidelines. Your responsibilities will encompass various key functions, including the orchestration of journal entries, payroll review, account reconciliations, month-end close, debt compliance reporting, and lead portions of the audit management process. Your role extends to strategic financial endeavors, including active participation in budget preparation, audit readiness, and the development of comprehensive management reports. By harnessing the capabilities of our accounting IT systems, you will play a pivotal role in streamlining our financial processes and maintaining impeccable financial records.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise Senior General Ledger Accountants and a Senior Tax/Regulatory Accountant

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute organizational accounting policies, ensuring strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Lead the maintenance of the organization's general ledger, overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Oversee payroll journal entry process, ensuring accuracy.
  • Oversee the tax and regulatory reporting ensure timely completion of filings, leverage a dedicated accountant and external tax consultants.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes, ensuring timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Drive the implementation of streamlined accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Evaluate and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies in accounting operations.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and changes in accounting standards, recommending adjustments to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assist with cash management and the cash forecasting process.
  • Work with cross-departmental stakeholders to implement internal controls and evaluate the impact of business developments on the financials.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management and other financial teams to create, refine, and monitor organizational budgets and financial forecasts.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability and desire to work as part of a high-performing Accounting / Finance team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or other similar position.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (preferably NetSuite); knowledge of data processing and business intelligence tools a plus.
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical capability.
Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education and Experience:

  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
