Housing Specialist/Housing Liaison

Job description

Develop partnerships with DBH and other affordable housing developers to increase the inventory for DBH set asides. Ensure the vouchers are utilized in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner according to the rules and regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Maintain accurate records of voucher submissions, placements and referrals for accurate data collection and reporting. Communicate and coordinate monthly with the DBH to ensure the voucher information is correct

  1. Helps consumers to be approved for rental assistance locate housing in a timely manner and with limited obstacles.
  2. Supports case managers in keeping consumers stably housed by working with local agencies and landlords or identifying other options as needed.
  3. Conducts on-going research to compile available units and distribute among all housing programs staff for dissemination to clients.
  4. Provides housing-related advice, consultation and guidance to all case manager to better assist consumers.
  5. Reviews previous housing histories of consumers and identify possible barriers to obtaining and retaining housing.
  6. Connects with landlords and develops strong relationship to facilitate client placement.
  7. Provides tenancy support, including tenant education workshops and consultation on case-by-case basis.
  8. Conducts initial and annual home inspection for clients when notified by case managers and provide inspections for other programs, as necessary.
  9. Refers clients and provides support for legal services related to more serious conflict or mediation cases when necessary.
  10. Keeps apprised of resources and new developments that pertain to substance abuse and addictions counseling.
  11. Tracks client interactions and document progress on Credible.
  12. Generate 40 Medicaid billable hours for services each pay period.
  13. Participate in the on-call rotation.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
