Job description

JLAN Solutions is seeking a small team of Army NCO Subject Matter Experst to support leadership and organizational change within the Army. The Army NCO Subject Matter Expert will help develop trainings, curriculums, and best practices around leadership and interpersonal skills that will lend to Non-Commissioned Officers establishing solid relationships with Soldiers and fostering cohesive, highly trained teams.

The Army recognizes interpersonal skills as an important domain in their new talent Alignment Framework, which identifies 17 knowledge, skills, and behaviors (KSBs) such as cross-cultural fluency, cultural awareness, conflict management, and teamwork. If you're passionate about identifying potential gaps that might exist between those interpersonal KSBs, along with the creation of validated tools and resources that can effectively support the growth of interpersonal KSBs for NCOs, then you'll want to apply to this opportunity!

What you'll be doing:

  • Act as Army subject matter experts throughout the project
  • Identify the interpersonal knowledge, skills, and behaviors (KSBs) most important for junior NCOs to possess
  • Identify potential shortcomings between the interpersonal KSBs needed by junior NCOs and the Army's current developmental methods
  • Offer suggestions and recommendations on what types of tool/resource should be developed for the interpersonal KSBs
  • Maintain regular communication with the ICF project manager to check-in on tasks and timelines, and to provide regular updates and invoices on work
  • Lend expertise and assistance in 4 data cdollection trips (each up to 5 days in duration) which include administering surveys and conducting interviews/focus groups
What you bring to the table:
  • Service in the Army as a mid to senior NCO (e.g., Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant)
  • Has recent experience leading and training junior NCOs
  • Deep familiarity with the interpersonal knowledge, skills, and behaviors that junior NCOs need to be successful
  • The ability to effectively interface with Soldiers and Army leaders of all ranks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Organizational Leadership, Organizational Psychology or related
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
