Job description

We are seeking a skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to support our Outpatient and Residential Programs in Baltimore, MD. We need an adept individual to motivate and aid clients in overcoming challenges related to their treatment. The Counselor will assess and provide both individual and group counseling, guidance, resources, and education to clients struggling with substance abuse issues. Responsibilities: Conduct multidimensional assessments and clinical evaluations, including providing diagnostic impressions and implementing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) protocols Maintain accurate records and reports on clients' progress, services offered, and necessary information Provide counseling to clients to help them overcome obstacles, adjust to life changes, and make positive changes; refer clients to appropriate community or social service programs Assist clients in accessing treatment by arranging psychiatric evaluations, coordinating medical stabilization, applying for health insurance, seeking funding for treatment services, and collaborating with clients' support systems when needed Evaluate clients' mental and physical conditions in collaboration with other professionals to determine the appropriate level of care Monitor and assess clients' progress toward measurable treatment goals through follow-ups and reviews Advocate for clients in crisis situations and intervene to resolve urgent problems Coordinate with mental health professionals, courts, probation officers, and other post-treatment agencies to ensure continuity of care Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs and develop treatment plans Educate clients and community members on addiction issues, available services, and make referrals when necessary Provide support and guidance to family members and concerned parties to help them understand and cope with individuals struggling with substance abuse Qualifications: To be considered for the role of Substance Abuse Counselor in Baltimore, MD, US, one must possess one of the following licensures or certifications: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC) Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD) Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD) Addiction Trainee (ADT) A deep understanding of the recovery process and the ability to support recovery using established standardized ASAM processes is required Essential knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is necessary. The candidate will be accountable for ensuring the delivery of clinical and administrative services to patients and their families Compensation: $26 - $35 hourly
