ROLE AND PURPOSE: Design, maintain, and support the district's on-prem and cloud-based, enterprise-level systems as well as the district's server and Data Center infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
  • Relevant industry certifications such as MTA, MCSA, MCSE, VCP, etc. (preferred)
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a position requiring the use and knowledge of skills that relate to the major responsibilities and duties listed below.
  • Successful experience working in a large server and data center environment, spanning multiple data centers
  • Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server versions 2008 to current
  • Experience administering services such as: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
  • Experience managing cloud platforms and infrastructure, data management and analytics, and cloud-based productivity solutions
  • Experience with advanced Operating System and network troubleshooting, tools, and concepts
  • Experience managing Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Google cloud enterprise environments
  • Experience gathering and interpreting data from a variety of monitoring systems and utilities such as: PRTG, SolarWinds Orion, Wireshark, Perfmon, vROPs, etc.
  • Experience working with server virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Hyper-V
  • Experience with backup technologies spanning across multiple backup sites
  • Experience using scripting languages to automate administrative tasks and/or troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Experience documenting systems and server architecture using a variety of tools such as Microsoft Visio, etc.
  • Experience designing and participating in Disaster Recovery design and implementation efforts
  • Experience working in both 3-2-1 and hyperconverged environments
  • Experience with SAN, DAS, and other storage platforms a plus
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems a plus

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Monitor and maintain the district's on-prem and cloud server and platform environments
  • Monitor and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure that support the district's educational initiatives
  • Ensure data integrity and security is maintained for the district's server and systems environment
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines
  • Participate in department & district planning to ensure the effective use of all technologies being implemented in the school district
  • Work with other AISD departments and campus personnel to resolve issues with related system problems/issues
  • Provide excellent customer service on the phone, in person, and through written communication, ensuring all incidents, requests, inquiries, and/or tasks are responded to in a timely and professional manner, according to established Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Categorize and prioritize incidents, requests, inquiries, and tasks according to SLA and other IT protocols
  • Prepare documentation on applications, system procedures, processes, and best practices for review and distribution to district staff as needed
  • Continually look for ways to improve processes and procedures that result in increased efficiency
  • Report to supervisor to provide support and recommendations for identified issues, projects, and initiatives
  • Explore the enterprise and industry for evolving state of industry knowledge and methods regarding best practices
  • Perform knowledge transfer sessions with team members as needed
  • Attend any appropriate training, in-service, workshop programs, and required meetings
  • Participate in an on-call rotation providing after-hours, weekend, and/or holiday support
  • Occasionally work prolonged or irregular hours with little to not advanced notice, to ensure/restore department and district options
  • Conduct periodic hardware and software inventory assessments
  • Participates in security assessments and audits
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to talk or hear. The employee is constantly required to walk, sit, lift, stand, bend, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must maintain emotional control under stress. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The work environment is a standard office setting including standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.). The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
