HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Essential

LOCATION: On-campus and/or Remote

POSITION SUMMARY: The Database Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, support, and maintenance of the School's databases. The Database Manager reports to the Director of Strategic Information and Innovation and is a 12-month, full-time non-exempt employee.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the lead database manager for the School, starting with Veracross, our student information system, ensuring data integrity across all modules in the database and integrated secondary databases/services (including, but not limited to, Finalsite, Canvas, Magnus, Naviance, Google Workspace for Education, Raiser's Edge, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Manager various ETL responsibilities between multiple systems as needed
  • Serve as the primary builder of custom reports and queries across multiple data systems for various departments and divisions
  • Provide support and training guidance to all constituents who use the databases
  • Manage, create, and maintain user accounts and permissions for necessary data access and security within various integrated systems
  • Monitor the primary database and integrated secondary databases/services to identify, resolve, and document data quality/integrity issues to ensure reliability across all systems
  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures, workflows, processes, and complex functions to ensure consistency of data integrity, formatting, and style across databases
  • Direct the work of others within the scope of the school information system and other key systems to ensure the preservation and integrity of data
  • Evaluate, advise, and advocate for best practices to facilitate automation, synchronization, and data workflow while seeking and implementing data process improvements across the school
  • Work with other administrative departments, school operations teams, and colleagues as needed to increase efficiency and ensure data integrity
  • Stay at the forefront of best practices and procedures for database management to ensure the appropriate level of leadership and support
  • Be familiar with data protection law compliance and ensure compliance with regard to data handling across departments
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff with technical support, as needed
  • Engage with the Information and Innovation team members in finding creative and innovative solutions to problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Strategic Information and Innovation
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree optional but advantageous.
  • Expertise in Veracross, with 3-5 years of training and experience
  • Working knowledge of Canvas, Finalsite, and Google Workspace for Education
  • Willingness to learn quickly and then teach others
  • Experience working with diverse learners
  • Expertise in MacOS, iOS, Windows OS, and ChromeOS
  • Exceptional project management and execution skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
