Job Description

Overview:

The Information Security Specialist is responsible for performing and reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations and recommend mitigation strategies. Information Security Specialist is a term that applies to the following positions. Individuals with experience in any of these positions, should apply here.
  • Information Security Analyst

  • Senior Security Specialist
Responsibilities:
  • Support, review, and analyze systems architecture diagrams and networks
  • Assess security system needs and recommend corrective actions into a coherent security strategy
  • Ensure discovered cyber incidents, including misuse, virus/malware, penetrations, and data spills are reported per standard operating procedure; support investigations and remediation/clean up as necessary, and provide guidance in coordination with Security management and other groups as appropriate
  • Assess the technical and performance characteristics of new technologies, as they relate to policies and regulations
  • Reviewing security architectures, firewall configurations, and security controls for new and proposed systems
  • Implementing security vulnerability testing tools to provide continuous monitoring and patch verification
  • Test and evaluate products in a lab environment
Job Requirements

Requirements:
  • 5-14 years of experience in Information Security is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Four (4) additional years of experience can be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • TS/SCI with polygraph
