Job description
Job responsibilities and duties
a. (U) Perform infrastructure maintenance to include installation, patching, upgrading, troubleshooting, operating hypervisor servers, associated hardware and software.
b. (U) Provide guest VM support to include, provisioning and de-provisioning guest VMs, allocating and managing associated resources (CPU, memory, storage), perform troubleshooting VMs within external Windows/LINUX server management platforms.
c. (U) Load the centralized management platform and virtual hosts to be added to the management platform.
d. (U) Configure server static IP addresses, network settings and perform Network VLAN configuration.
e. (U) Manage complex root password on all virtual hosts, create a group in Active Directory, and add administrators to this group, and authorize that group to be administrators in VMware vCenter.
f. (U) Add new virtual machines to the virtual infrastructure by creating fresh VMs and installing a clean OS, perform P2V conversion with tools such as Converter Enterprise.
g. (U) Monitor virtual hosts using tools offered by ESXi Server and the vSphere Client.
h. (U) Utilize tools such as Update Manager (vSphere) to keep the patches on ESXi server and operating system current. Use VMware's Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), to update ESX Server.
i. (U) Analyze project requirements to define and conduct management tasks for patching, enhancements. Perform hardware installations, inventory, decommission old hardware and software, destruction and sunset removal.
j. (U) Document technical work and maintain program documentation; to include the creation and updating of User Guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), updating internal documents stored within the Sponsor's hosting infrastructure.
k. (U) Ensure high availability of both host and guest virtual machines.
