Job Summary

Bread is a technology company that aims to transform the way the world shops online and makes essential purchases affordable. We build tools, technologies and APIs that allow e-commerce merchants to integrate installment loan financing and other alternative payment products anywhere in their customers' shopping journey. As a part of our Success team at our high-growth startup, the Merchant Success Strategist tends to the day-to-day needs of our merchant partners, and for building out and executing merchant trainings and business reviews. By setting the overall tone of the merchant relationships, the Strategist is responsible for assigning accurate views of the health of the customers and forecast retention and expansion opportunities within the book of business. The Merchant Success Strategist speaks confidently about the digital marketing space and broader themes that can be applied to marketing strategy. This role works with C-levels on the merchant side to design and implement digital marketing strategies to help merchants derive the most value from the tools Bread offers.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Business Relationships: Demonstrate a passion when working with clients to drive meaningful results. Own merchant relationships to create a mutually beneficial partnership, constantly seeking expansion/growth/upsell opportunities for the client and ensuring the client understands the value Bread brings to their business. Help merchants create and deploy effective marketing initiatives around financing using a data-driven approach. Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Engineering to ensure that merchant wins, losses, and suggestions are recorded and iterated on,


  • Technical Expertise: Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical people Train merchants on how to use the Bread tool and market our financing product to their customers. Ensure merchant compliance and drive relevant product adoption to generate high retention rates. Demonstrate thought leadership in digital marketing. Use Excel to conduct data analysis including business analyses with e-commerce data.


  • Organization and Communication:Self-motivated to be effective, efficient, and complete work independently in a high-pressure, fast paced environment. Remain organized, and prioritize work on multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrates professional verbal and written communication skills when working with and presenting to internal and external partners. Maintains an approachable attitude and high energy level. Adaptable to an ever changing environment. Thinks creatively and works with a solution oriented approach.


Reports to: Manager or Above

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
  • Remote work or normal office environment, approximately 25% travel domestically.
  • This position is hybrid with an onsite schedule of 3-4 days per month. In-office requirements are subject to change based on business needs. This position is currently available to candidates that reside within 60 miles of Columbus, OH; Chadds Ford, PA; Plano, TX; Draper, UT; Wilmington, DE or New York, NY

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Five or more years of customer facing work experience, specifically working with Fortune 500 enterprise clients working with Digital Marketing, e-commerce or software/SaaS


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience using Excel to conduct data analysis, business analysis, with e-commerce data, etc. and presenting to leadership
  • Experience in online marketing and/or retail/e-commerce, etc.

Typical Starting Range:
$87,900.00 - $159,200.00

Full Salary Range for position:
California: $101,000.00 - $198,900.00

Colorado: $87,900.00 - $167,100.00

New York: $96,600.00 - $198,900.00

Washington: $92,200.00 - $183,000.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time ("PSST") upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
