Hardinge is a 130-year-old prominent player in the Machine Tool/Metal Cutting Industries. We are experiencing tremendous growth in our grinding business and have four expansion positions available to support our installed machines at our largest US customer facility. We will be staffing maintenance technicians in support of our customer s overnight 12 hour shift.

The Maintenance Technician position provides support and repair services at customer facilities in the Springfield OH area, with some occasional support in Eaton, OH. Support would include trouble-shooting technical problems on machines & equipment and addressing customer complaints with the goal of ensuring a positive customer experience. The requirements for this position that is in our Technical Service Department are as follows:

EDUCATION:

AAS in Electronic Technology, Machine Tool Technology or degree/certification in related field preferred. Experience will be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repair required. Alternate levels of education/ experience will be considered.

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of machine design and operation, mechanical/electrical repair practices, as well as grinding processes, materials, grinding wheels, dressing tools & tooling preferred.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on machine and machine controls, CNC as well as PLC. Ability to read parts manuals, electrical and mechanical schematics, assembly instructions and troubleshooting guides.
  • Familiarity with operating and setting up CNC equipment.

LOCATION: The position is a dedicated onsite maintenance position in Springfield, OH. The ideal base location is between Springfield, OH and Eaton, OH. It is also acceptable to live within one hour of Springfield, OH. Relocation assistance is available.

Occasional travel (during normal shift) to other facility in Eaton, OH. There may be times when you are expected to travel outside of this region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation, trouble shooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of grinding machine tool product line.
  • Offer diagnostic support for products Hardinge supports, by performing customer service visits as required on both warranty and non-warranty products. Identify and resolve customer problems and issues through remote means as well, via video conference, email etc.
  • Shift work as required.
  • Demonstrate and instruct techniques, methods and procedures for grinding machine tool equipment and related attachments and accessories.
  • Handle, communicate and coordinate with customers upgrades to machines & equipment; coordinate engineering requirements such as special options or updates where service is required.
  • Communicate and coordinate service activities with customers until all quality issues are resolved.
  • Support other field service staff by freely sharing knowledge and information and coordinate activities with departments as needed.
  • Rotating 12-hour overnight shift. Eligible for 15% night differential and additional 5% for weekend nights.
