About the Position

Strategic Capacity Group (SCG) is seeking to hire an experienced Program Manager to lead a complex, global logistics program to support the U.S. Department of State to deliver training in the United States and internationally. The Program Manager is responsible for managing stakeholder relationships, including coordinating with the donor and with partner institutions and providing timely and accurate reporting; line managing project staff to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of travel logistics for 40-60-person delegations traveling to the United States and internationally; and overseeing responsive 24/7 support and resolution of travel disruptions and emergencies by assigned team members. The Program Manager is also responsible for managing activities and risk related to project and resources integration, costs/budgets, schedules, and procurement. To be successful within a cross-functional fast paced environment, the Program Manager will require exceptional planning and coordination/integration skills. This position will report to the Director of Programs, manage project staff in the U.S. and internationally, and be based at SCG s headquarters in McLean, VA.


Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:


  • At least five years of project management experience. Relevant experience includes substantive work in the following: project planning and implementation, scheduling, budget management, resourcing, cross-team integration, and reporting.
  • A strong record of project management experience, ideally involving complex logistics for multiple events, travel for international delegations from multiple international locations, and engagement with multiple embassy stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of federal travel regulations. Knowledge of federal grant guidelines (2CFR 200) highly preferred.
  • Effective communications skills. Experience engaging and coordinating with the Department of State and with embassy personnel highly preferred.
  • Excellent planning and management skills.
  • Be willing to be located at SCG s McLean, VA offices. Some domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Hold a master s degree in a relevant discipline. PMP certification highly preferred.
  • $100,000-120,000 commensurate with experience.
