Job description

Performs medication order processing responsibilities within established policies, procedures and guidelines and provides drug information while applying a thorough understanding and knowledge of drug and medical therapy.Minimum EducationCompletion of a five year pharmacy program in an accredited college of pharmacy. (Required)Minimum Work Experience1 year Pharmacy experience (Required)Functional AccountabilitiesMedication Processing* Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.Drug Intervention and Education* Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side-effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports as assigned.* Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.* Interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records.* Must maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non-sterile preparation(s) and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP <795>, <797> and <800> guidelines.Supervision/Training* Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn-around time.* Assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.Safety* Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance* Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation* Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation* Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication* Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers* Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performanceOrganizational AccountabilitiesOrganizational Accountabilities (Staff)Organizational Commitment/Identification* Anticipate and responds to customer needs; follows up until needs are metTeamwork/Communication* Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior* Partner with all team members to achieve goals* Receptive to others' ideas and opinionsPerformance Improvement/Problem-solving* Contribute to a positive work environment* Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change* Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes* Make appropriate decisions, using sound judgmentCost Management/Financial Responsibility* Use resources efficiently* Search for less costly ways of doing thingsSafety* Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance* Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation* Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation* Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication* Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers* Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance
