Job description

The Kids Ministry Director/Pastor leads the Kids Ministry Team, reporting directly to the Senior Pastor. This role is responsible for all aspects of kids ministry from birth through 5th grade, with an emphasis on discipleship, administration, and volunteer recruitment and retention. The incumbent will work alongside the ministry and the operations team to implement the overall vision and mission of Cedarbrook Community Church.


Skills:

  • Strong leader: Spiritually gifted in leadership, discernment, and shepherding with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build, lead and maintain volunteer teams while building a culture of trust and discipling relationships, with an understanding of team and ministry dynamics. The incumbent demonstrates self-awareness in their emotions, self-confidence, and self-assessment and they exhibit social awareness in consideration of others emotional well-being.
  • Influential communicator: Incumbent must be able to teach from the Bible clearly and creatively, skilled at contextualizing gospel concepts in a way kids can understand. The incumbent must be a team player, with the ability to relate to kids as well as work directly with the families of Cedarbrook.
  • Administration: Incumbent should possess strong organizational and administrative skills, able to manage projects, deadlines, and teams effectively and in a timely manner. The incumbent will be able to build and manage systems of discipleship, as well as volunteer recruitment, training, retention, and scheduling.
  • High capacity: Possesses a strategic focus on the kinds of tasks that must be engaged to achieve desired outcomes for the discipleship of families and children. They are highly imaginative and ground their imagination with a thorough awareness of the facts of their situation. They don t deny challenges they recognize them and help their team generate strategies to address them. Maintains teachable spirit and attitude.
  • Tech savvy: Ability to learn internal database and information systems to effectively manage Kids Ministry processes, systems, and vitals as well as provide assistance, direction, and training to Kids Ministry Leaders.


Experience Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with an additional 5+ years of Next Generation ministry/leadership experience at a church of 500+. Bachelor s degree preferred.
  • An understanding of kids ministry Christian education within the local church.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, motivating, and equipping volunteers and leaders.
  • Ability to engage with kids (birth through 5th grade) and with their parents and guardians.
  • Knowledgeable of general Kids Ministry best practices, strategies, and trends.
  • Lives consistently with the moral qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Ephesians 4 & 5.
  • Must possess a high level of spiritual maturity.
  • Must be committed to Cedarbrook s philosophy of ministry and mission.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership, vision, and direction for Promiseland Kids Ministry (Birth 5th Grade) with alignment to the overall vision, mission, and values of Cedarbrook.
  • Determines objectives and goals for this ministry in coordination with the Senior Pastor and initiates strategies to fulfill them.
  • Supervises the planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating Kids ministry teams, visitor follow-up and any other specific ministry details or ideas.
  • Oversees Sunday worship programming, including programming at Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and other non-Sunday events, along with other child-oriented discipleship initiatives (VBS).
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training schedule for all Promiseland volunteers that trains and inspires people to serve.
  • Equip parents to be primary spiritual influencers of their kids.
  • Develop regular communication cadences (video, text, email, in-person) to parents / kids / volunteers.
  • Regularly teach the gospel to children from birth through 5th grade in large group and small group settings.
  • Oversight over ministry budgets, equipment, and supplies.
  • Enlists, equips, and evaluates all workers needed for this ministry.
  • Leads kids and their parents to become maturing disciples of Christ through Bible study, relationship building, and personal evangelism.
  • Committed to being a member in good standing of Cedarbrook Community Church. Actively engaged in Life Groups, attending weekend worship services, giving, serving, and praying for the church body.
  • Adheres to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Cedarbrook Community Church.


Additional notes: General roles and responsibilities of the Kids Ministry Director may require additional staffing and division of responsibilities depending on attendance/volume and Kids Ministry numbers.
