Job Summary:
This position requires a Fusion Specialist familiar with urologic imaging and prostate biopsies. The Fusion Specialist will be responsible for transporting MR Fusion equipment to hospital and/or ambulatory surgery centers and then assisting urologists in performing the MR Fusion biopsy. The Fusion Specialist must be familiar with proper patient positioning for the procedure as well as a thorough knowledge of equipment functions and male urologic anatomy.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
Delivery and set-up of equipment in a timely manner and prior to patient arrival
Calibrating MR Fusion equipment as needed
Ensuring room set-up, including exam table, is properly aligned to ensure a successful procedure
Guidance with patient positioning as needed
Assist urologist with equipment functions (hardware and software) to ensure proper visualization and accurate biopsies in areas of interest or concern
Ensure specimen labels are provided to facility staff in a manner consistent with facility protocols
Load and secure equipment into UMS van for transport to the next scheduled facility
Immediately report any procedure problems to the MR Fusion Director
Immediately report any equipment problems/failures to the UMS Service Team
Perform necessary planning and communications for confirming upcoming procedure day schedules
Perform necessary planning and communications for obtaining required MRI Mappings for procedures.
Qualifications:
Experience performing urologic ultrasound/prostate imaging preferred.
Experience in assisting physicians with special procedures
Imaging professional credentialing preferred
Associates degree from an accredited allied health program preferred
Exposure to medical imaging modalities and different views (x-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, etc.)
Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
