Job description

**Resp & Qualifications**

**PURPOSE:**

Defines, designs and develops Storage system requirements. Performs trade-off analysis of Storage performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, and other Storage system or program requirements. Assesses Storage architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs Storage system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for Storage hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of Storage subsystems and integration of total system. Defines Storage system support requirements to include monitoring, capacity, staffing and patching/updating. Analyzes and resolves Storage program support deficiencies. Conducts independent technical investigations in Storage systems design.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

+ Day to day administration of Storage Systems and Subsystems software to ensure peak efficiency and reliability: Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the storage system and server configurations in the environments, including management of basic virtualization in the environment. Utilizes strong troubleshooting capabilities to diagnose and resolve problems or escalate to next level support as necessary. Monitors and manages storage, network, and security in the assigned environment in conjunction with vendor recommendations. Ensures proper procedures are followed to introduce changes and fixes into the operating environment in order to ensure the lowest possible error rate. Proactively monitors software maintenance levels compared to the vendor published software stack to ensure optimization and corrective fixes are applied.

+ Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services, and support the root cause analysis.

+ Evaluates new Storage systems by performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews. Research Storage software and related products to support recommendations and purchasing. Determines Storage systems integration issues by evaluating components; developing and completing performance tests; analyzing test data; studying project requirements; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems. Develop system automation and system integration of business processes.Develops, updates, and maintains Storage documentation, operations manuals, inventories, and written procedures relative to installing, maintaining, and using Storage Systems and subsystems software which is kept in a departmental SharePoint site.

+ Improves engineering job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

+ Acts as a mentor for junior and senior team members. Proactively provides technical assistance to all customers (internal and external) to leverage technology and resolve problems.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:**

Leads a team utilizing a matrix management system.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

**Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

**Licenses/Certifications** :

+ ITIL Foundations v3 within 180 Days Preferred **.**

**Experience:** 8 years proven success overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems and applications.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)**

+ Experience implementing storage solutions for VMware, AIX, and Linux environments.

+ Demonstrated experience with enterprise and mid-tier class storage arrays (Pure, Dell/EMC, IBM and/or Infinidat).

+ Demonstrated experience with Brocade FC switches.

+ Experience with concepts like dynamic tiering & allocation, deduplication, replication, and snapshots.

+ Experience with replication technologies for off-site data replication and disaster recovery.

+ Knowledge of implementing RecoverPoint with VMware Site Recovery Manager.

+ Strong problem-solving skills.

+ Must be self-motivated, capable of prioritizing and managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Must be able to produce accurate technical documentation.

+ Self-motivated, adaptable to change and able to function effectively in a team environment.

+ Knowledge of programming languages and web-based technologies.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

+ Ability to collaborate to solve technical problems across teams.

+ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

+ Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

**Salary Range:** $106,200 - $210,925

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.
