_ DESCRIPTION:_

Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full time Attorney Professional Development Manager. The primary objective of this role **** is to assist the Firm with a variety of associate talent development areas, including career development, coaching, training, mentoring, staffing and CLE, among others. The role will provide support to the Washington, DC and Houston offices, and work alongside the broader Professional Development team within the Americas. This position is located in the Washington, DC office and will report to the Head of Professional Development Americas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with associates regularly to discuss their workload, areas of interest and identify appropriate professional development opportunities
  • Manage staffing of time-sensitive assignments to ensure excellence in client service and provide development opportunities for associates based on interests, availability and client needs
  • Monitor associate workload with a view to ensuring equity and proper work levels, tracking billable, non-billable and pro bono hours
  • Become familiar with attorney practice areas and keep abreast of changes within each practice
  • Ensure the staffing database is updated on a weekly basis to facilitate monitoring of associate work levels
  • Monitor and analyze utilization reports
  • Monitor associate development and performance
  • Assist partners and the Human Resources team with the associate feedback process by gathering and organizing feedback and guidance on associate performance
  • Document feedback as directed, elevating issues to the Head of Professional Development Americas as needed
  • Coordinate Academy, departmental and practice area trainings
  • Manage the Career Development Mentor program for the Houston and Washington, DC offices
  • Partner with HR and Lateral Recruiting to ensure successful integration for all associates; assist in presenting professional development sessions for all incoming associates during orientation
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of Firm-sponsored CLE programs including in-house training programs
  • Manage the Bar Admissions status for non-admitted lawyers in the Houston and Washington, DC offices
  • Assist with the client secondment process for the Americas region
  • Oversee the staffing process for the summer law clerks in the Americas region
  • Arrange coaching engagements for lawyers in the Americas region, as needed
  • Assist with the planning of new hire orientation for the Fall Law Clerks
  • Organize associate related events and team building activities for the Houston and Washington, DC offices
  • Maintain the Holiday/Out of Office tracker for the Litigation group to ensure that plans are in place for coverage
  • Provide coverage for the CLE Compliance Specialist as needed
  • Work on other assignments/projects/initiatives as assigned

Qualifications:

_ REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:_

  • 4-6 years of professional development/human resources experience in a professional services organization; law firm experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Facility in making effective decisions using sound judgment
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain strong internal working relationships
  • Excellent organizational and client service skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (highly proficient in Excel)
  • Ability to work outside the core business hours as needed
  • Ability to travel to as needed (infrequent)
  • Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $115,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
