Materials Management Associate I

Your Tasks:

This position is primarily responsible for performing routine shipping and receiving tasks independently while supporting entry level team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine shipping and receiving tasks independently and in compliance with company policies and procedures, while supporting entry level team members.
  • Follow SOPs to execute the receipt, inspection, storage of materials and used for manufacturing and distribution activities. Demonstrate proper procedures to entry level team members.
  • Receive, unpack, and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, report discrepancies to supervisor or designee, and route items to departments while maintaining compliance to SOPs.
  • Receive and handle hazardous materials such dry ice or flammable liquids per training and as required by SOP guidance.
  • Use hand-trucks, pallet jacks or other material handling equipment to stock incoming products and support proper storage of articles in bins, on floor, on shelves, or in controlled temperature units, according to storage specifications.
  • Notify management and proposes options when tasks require additional support to correctly execute or when requiring escalation.
  • Perform pick/pack functions in accordance with SOP's and maintain a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Deliver packages and other materials to internal customers within defined expectations, communicating delays to department leads as needed.
  • Conduct periodic inventory/stock counts, report variances for further actions and or mitigation process.
  • Participate in management of plant gasses / gas suppliers (i.e. CO2, LN, etc.).
  • Participate in operational readiness activities including restocking, cleaning, organizing, or otherwise contributing to efficient operations.
  • May be assigned to projects focused on an area of specialization such as drug product shipping, material planning support, inventory maintenance support
  • May need to provide unscheduled support for warehouse equipment.
  • Utilize SAP to perform various warehouse functions such as receiving, materials reservations, picking, issuances, inventory management, and reconciliation.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and a minimum 3 years related industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of materials management, inventory control and GMPs, general knowledge of other operational areas such as QA, Materials Planning, etc, is desired.
  • Good communication and collaborations skills.

Must have ability to handle more than one task at a time and must work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail. The employee will use a hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments in storage/ work areas.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a temperature-controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Facility within an Office Building. Occasions in which this position must work outside, in which temperatures may vary. This position deals with temperature-controlled materials in which personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required due to extreme temperatures. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict SOPs and PPE must be worn.
