Causa/Amazonia is seeking a Sommelier and Service Manager.

Causa/Amazonia are two Peruvian experiences from Chef Carlos Delgado, and Glendon Hartley and Chad Spangler from Service Bar. Causa will feature fresh ceviche, whole fish preparations, wood grilled anticucho, and an exploration of Peruvian coastal and Andes cuisine. Amazonia focuses on cuisine from the jungle, alongside native Peruvian staples.

We are located at 920 Blagden Alley NW in Blagden Alley.

Responsibilities:

Upholding the culture and standards of Causa as dictated in our company handbook.

  • Active supervision of Causa staff during day to day operations & service
  • Training of service members and confirming Certification
  • Training new staff, on-going training, staff certification, continuing education, motivation, and drive towards our mission statement
  • Weekly inventory of dry goods, for Causa service
  • Working with Host Team on Tock floor plan maintenance
  • Working with EC, BDs and GM for any new product or menu adjustments based on product availability or menu changes
  • General knowledge of all FOH operations
  • Assistance in ongoing wine training for service staff in Amazonia.
  • Assistance with general management of Causa and Amazonia restaurants
  • Balancing management work schedules with the rest of management team by rotating closing shifts and opening shifts for the both restaurants
  • General oversight and upkeep of dining room cleaning schedule and side work projects
  • Actively oversee wine program including training notes, bottle organization, coordination of wine orders with WD and BM
  • Coordinate wine menu development and wine pairing with WD
  • ABRA Manager s License & TIPS training - Costs will be paid for by Causa up front; if no completion or significant progress is shown towards completing these license requirements the equivalent cost will be recaptured via a reduction in base pay after one month s time.
