We apply systems thinking and data-driven approaches to evaluate and integrate concepts that make the world's transportation systems efficient, secure, and safe.About the Team:Our team builds extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation capabilities used primarily for developing and accessing transportation concepts. We are looking for a for someone eager to apply their software development and computer science skills in a dynamic research environment supporting the Integration Demonstration and Experimentation for Aviation (IDEA) Lab, Immersion Discovery Lab, and Driver Research for Intelligent Vehicles and Environments (DRIVE) Lab. These labs are extensible, scalable, real-time distributed simulation environments based on an open, layered architecture. They bring together a broad set of integrated capabilities for human-in-the-loop simulations, demonstrations, and visualizations. They are environments capable of handling a range of exploratory concepts, while also being realistic enough to provide a high-quality user experience. This includes the world of augmented and virtual reality.The position requires creative problem-solving skills, good communication skills, an eagerness to learn new skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.Roles and Responsibilities:* Software development of real-time simulation applications* Working as part of a team of software engineers, experiment designers, transportation operational domain experts, and human factors engineers to help demonstrate and test concepts for sponsors in an iterative rapid-prototyping environment.Basic Qualifications:* Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.* Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.* Experience with VR development (Unity, Unreal)* Experience with C++/Java/NodeJS and other modern software languages* Experience with Linux based software development* Exposure to Full Stack Web DevelopmentPreferred Qualifications:* Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline* Preference given to qualified candidates with active clearance* Experience with modern web-based development* Experience in or exposure to DevOps concepts* Experience with configuration Management (e.g. Git)* Experience with or Exposure to containerization and/or virtualization* Exposure to native/hybrid mobile development* Experience or interest in aviation and other methods of transportationThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):NoneThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Suitability - FAAWork Location Type:HybridMITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
