Department: Victim Services, Safe Helpline

Position: Vice President, Safe Helpline

Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer

Compensation Range: $140,000-$180,000

ABOUT THE POSITION:

One of RAINN's core victim service programs is the DoD (Department of Defense) Safe Helpline, which RAINN operates through a contract with the Department of Defense's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO).

Safe Helpline is the sole crisis support service for members of the DoD community affected by sexual assault. Safe Helpline is secure, confidential, anonymous, and available 24/7 worldwide. Safe Helpline staffprovide live, one-on-one support to survivors, their families and other DoD stakeholders. A Safe Helpline user can access one-on-one support, peer-to-peer support, information, resources and self-care exercises 24/7 to aid in their recovery. RAINN has operated Safe Helpline since its inception in 2011.

The Vice President, Safe Helpline is responsible for setting the strategic vision for the program, in collaboration with DoD; managing all Safe Helpline services (except for technology); communicating the program vision and goals to helpline staff; and ensuring that all users receive survivor-centered, trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and strengths-based services. Reporting to the CEO, the VP, Safe Helpline will manage a team of approximately 50 employees.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic Vision and Planning

  • Work closely with DoD to create a vision for the evolution of Safe Helpline program and services.
  • Create and implement a roadmap to continuously improve existing services while building new services to meet the needs of those we help.
  • Oversee and monitor continuous program improvements and ensure that the program delivers services consistent with best practices in the fields of crisis intervention and sexual violence response.


Department Leadership

  • Manage, inspire and lead a large team.
  • Serve as a member of RAINN's senior leadership team and collaborate with other department heads.
  • Ensure we're following all operational and service policies and standards, including hotline playbooks for contingencies; provide after-hours leadership support as needed.
  • Manage end-to-end programmatic operations and metrics for the Safe Helpline, tracking and improving program outcomes.
  • Set annual operational goals and budgets.
  • Monitor all program plans and timelines and ensure that all projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Work closely with our Technology team to ensure that our hotline technology platforms are meeting the needs of staff, visitors, and DoD.
  • Collaborate with our Communications team on Safe Helpline marketing, advertising and website.


DoD Expertise

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of DoD/military policies and protocols.
  • Create opportunities for Safe Helpline staff to increase DoD specific crisis response knowledge.
  • Manage relationships with DoD stakeholders.
  • Act as a lead reviewer for reports and materials developed for SAPRO.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • And other duties as assigned.


Required

  • Crisis intervention experience utilizing a trauma-informed model.
  • Extensive knowledge of DoD/SAPR/SHARP.
  • Experience working with military or veteran populations.
  • Experience successfully leading large teams.
  • Experience leading strategic planning and collaboration, developing proposals and managing budgets.
  • Must maintain extensive knowledge of DoD SAPRO and other military sexual assault policies, protocols, related laws and regulations.
  • Master's degree in social work/human services or minimum of ten years of equivalent strategic leadership and department management experience.


RAINN Office Status: This position is based in Washington, DC. Please note that RAINN staff are temporarily working remotely. We will be going back into the office. Please note that we are exploring a potential hybrid work model, which may require occasional office and remote work to support our collaborative efforts in 2024.
