Position Overview:
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Senior Director of Corporate Finance & Regulatory Policy. The Senior Director of Corporate Finance & Regulatory Policy serves as a key advisor, issue expert and lobbyist for the NAM and its members on a range of corporate finance and regulatory policy issues. Key corporate finance issues include corporate governance, proxy advisory firms, shareholder proposals, ESG, antitrust, accounting, and SEC disclosure proposals; key regulatory issues include regulatory reform, the Congressional Review Act, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
This position is responsible for analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and working independently and with the VP of Domestic Policy to develop and execute legislative and regulatory strategies on designated issues to advance manufacturers' priorities. This person will also be responsible for leading and working closely with key internal stakeholders, including membership (to identify issues and communicate updates on priority items), public affairs and marketing (to inform NAM advocacy campaigns, demonstrate value to our membership on assigned issues and identify opportunities to enhance NAM's public-facing work), and legal (to analyze statutory and procedural impacts of legislative and regulatory proposals).
The successful candidate has a track record of organizing successful policy, lobbying and advocacy efforts and working successfully with policymakers on key corporate finance and corporate governance issues. Candidate should be able to analyze and communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly to a variety of audiences. Experience with public speaking, including engagement with the media, is preferred.
Key responsibilities include working proactively and collaboratively with other policy experts and internal groups to develop and execute advocacy strategies; serving as a voice for manufacturers before relevant policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Administration; working closely with key leaders at the NAM's 14,000 member companies to identify policy priorities; communicating with internal and external stakeholders about the NAM's policy work; and ensuring that the NAM is responsive to the needs of manufacturers on the assigned policy issues. At the discretion of NAM leadership, this position may be used for background press interviews.
