COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Job description

Overview:

The Community Outreach Coordinator will support outreach, community education, and awareness services in the Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI). The incumbent will assist in dissemination of CASSI research, clinical, and education-related opportunities and advances in the community and will work with a multidisciplinary team to maintain and strategically advance the departments online and offline materials (e.g., website content, newsletters, flyers, infographics, social media assets, etc.). With guidance from the Assistant Director, CASSI Community Programs and in collaboration with CASSIs Outreach & Training department, this position will serve as the primary contact for research and community partnership initiatives established through CASSIs Community Programs.



Responsibilities:
  1. Support CASSI investigators and research teams in developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with external organizations and interested collaborators to promote events, recruit participants, and represent CASSI at relevant community activities.
  2. Maintain and update a list of contacts for research and community partnership initiatives established through CASSIs Community Programs.
  3. In collaboration with department leadership, develop and maintain a CASSI Community Events Calendar. Serve as the primary CASSI contact and respond to community inquiries related to outreach opportunities and activities. Review and fulfill incoming community resource requests.
  4. Educate the broader community about CASSI activities, initiatives, and projects. Seek out and learn about collaborative opportunities and build good will, particularly for under-represented communities.
  5. Participate in departmental and external meetings to remain updated on current research initiatives and to develop, adjust, and disseminate branded materials and program information via physical documents, electronic correspondence, and online content.
  6. Under the guidance of CASSI Assistant Director, Community Programs, collaboratively work with the Marketing and Public Relations department to design, develop, and update online and offline materials (including content, templates, webpages, and call-to-action materials for various research initiatives to ensure that print and digital materials are ready and follow departmental and Institute standards.
  7. Coordinate and manage the production of the CASSI Connector and newsletter. Collect and submit events and relevant data to internal and external communications (e.g., the Institutes All Hands and Association of University Centers on Disabilities newsletters) and calendars.
  8. In collaboration with CASSIs Outreach and Training Operations department, ensure accurate entry of training programs, projects, activities, and products into the National Information and Reporting System (NIRS) database.
  9. Update survey platforms as needed and share results monthly with department.
  10. In collaboration with the Institutes Office of Patient Experience and Community Engagement, assist in coordinating and maintaining a network of community volunteers. Recruit at local events, respond to email inquiries, determine fit with CASSI departments and needs, and assist potential volunteers through the volunteer registration process. Connect volunteers to their CASSI point of contact and maintain communication at regular intervals with volunteers to ensure mutual goals are achieved.


Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have access to reliable transportation as needed to fulfill job duties.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Health, Psychology, or other related field required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of experience conducting or supporting community-based outreach and engagement and/or closely related tasks required.
  • Previous experience or general knowledge of research teams and recruitment strategies is preferred.
