Position Description
Collect and catalog new gang related law enforcement intelligence information. Receive or gather intelligence reports and data in support of drug law enforcement investigations. Provide input on gang related aspects of political, social, or economic trends or situations. Utilize local, state, and national information systems and databases as appropriate. Evaluate all available intelligence information pertaining to gang related law enforcement such as locations, suspects and compares the information accordingly related to other gang and drug law enforcement investigations. Develop threat assessments and provide real-time criminal intelligence information in on-going criminal investigations. Research, analyze and interpret data from suspect cell phones, computer and gaming systems, social media, vehicle information and GPS etc.
Produce written strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence products. Provide oral briefings to supervisors, detectives, and agents. May be required to provide testimony in court proceedings regarding work product. Use software to analyze and review gang related law enforcement cases.
Represents the agency in meetings in the area of criminal intelligence. Maintain association with and facilitates exchange of information between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Develop, research and analyze informational diagrams, databases, spreadsheets, and reports; maintain familiarity and competency with computer programs and technology related to the field of crime analysis and intelligence as required. Assist in the collection and reporting of monthly statistics.
Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology or a related field preferred.
Two (2) years experience in researching, analyzing and interpreting data. Law Enforcement and or Military service in a related field preferred.
Ability to become LEADS certified. Additional Requirements

Knowledge of research and analytical procedures and principals, statistics and criminal law. Ability to speak and write clearly and convey information appropriately. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize data obtained from various sources into a comprehensible document. Ability to perform research using a computer, the internet and personal computing devices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel. Ability to apply critical thinking in the preparation or detailed crime analyst reports.
