The Controls Engineer will spend the majority of time in-house at our Denver facility writing and updating existing PLC and Robotics code supporting our in-house Testing & Controls team and performing factory acceptance testing on new systems. The Controls Engineer will spend the remaining 10-20% of their time traveling to customer sites depending on the complexity of the project, aiding in complex installations that require programming and commissioning of new equipment.
Responsibilties
Use TIA Portal and S7 (Siemens) as well as Allen Bradley tools to provide remote support (via teleservice connection) to PLC and HMI systems in the field for required changes / maintenance / troubleshooting, etc
Generate e-drawing modifications of PLC & HMI systems for customer quotations or to support field service personnel
Design and run experiments on PLC, HMI and touch screen systems on die cast manufacturing equipment
Test, troubleshoot and debug and new HMI updates prior to customer installation
Manage PLC and touch panel backups on the server
Travel to field sites for repairs and equipment installation occasionally
Requirements
Minimum 2+ years experience in PLC & HMI systems support, familiarity with die cast, injection molding or similar manufacturing processes is strongly preferred
BS in relevant engineering discipline preferred, but not required
Experience with TIA portal is strongly preferred, as well as Siemens S7; Allen Bradley is also a plus
Previous work providing remote support via teleservice is helpful
Must be willing to travel up to 10-15% per year, as well as be on call and/or work overtime occasionally during equipment installations or customer emergencies
