We are seeking an Evaluation and Assessment Response Specialist to design and implement post training evaluations utilizing Qualtrics XM software system applicable to all training event types: in-person instructor-led, virtual instructor-led and eLearning training courses, workshops and technical exchanges. In this role, you will craft and maintain databases and data systems by streamlining data collection methods to create automated and easy-to-use Level 1 evaluations. Address errors and monitor performance by, analyzing collected training evaluation data and formatting reporting methods for easy interpretation. They will interpret data trends and patterns as they relate to the training organization and prepare reports for organizational leadership to use to improve performance. This position works together with various team members, such as engineers and programmers, program sponsors and associated leaders, and instructors to identify areas for improvement based on collected data.

This position is in the Learning Sciences (LS) Group, Nuclear Nonproliferation Division, National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL. Our group plays a critical role in the directorate's mission to discover scientific and technological breakthroughs to confront some of the nation's most difficult national security challenges. We apply expertise in nonproliferation missions and learning sciences to innovate, improve, and implement knowledge-transfer methodologies, learning sciences research, behavioral sciences and human predictability, and innovations that enable successful engagements with partner countries.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design evaluations and assessments that effectively gather desired information.
  • Develop methods for engaging training event attendees.
  • Manage the process of collecting responses, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining data integrity. Use statistical techniques to analyze training evaluation responses, identify trends, correlations, and insights.
  • Summarize training evaluation results in clear and understandable formats such as reports, presentations, or dashboards. Distribute findings to help collaborators better understand implications of the results and make informed decisions.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on evaluation findings in the form of dashboards or customized reports.
  • Address database system errors and monitor performance before, during and post training events.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, training managers, subject matter experts and programmers, to determine areas of improvement in relation to training evaluation data.
  • Quality assurance and continuous improvement: Verify the accuracy of training evaluation data. Iteratively refine methodologies and processes to enhance data quality, response rates, and overall process effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels between ORNL and vendors, ensuring clear and timely exchange of information, feedback, and updates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and fiveyears of relevant experience or an associate degreeand two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience administering training evaluations and assessments.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

Q clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
