We are currently seeking experienced Pipefitters and Pipe Welders in the Baltimore, MD area for a heavy industrial and mechanical contractor. Candidates must be familiar with carbon steel, stainless steel, fiberglass, PVC, HDPE, and copper pipes and be flexible with the work environment.
Pipefitter Responsibilities:
Experience running piping through active industrial production facilities is required.
bility to interpret plan view and elevation view drawings to understand the project.
Understand P&ID (Process and Instrument Diagrams) and can coordinate installation of valves and instruments as shown on the drawings.
bility to generate isometric drawings for fabrication in a shop environment for installation in the field. This includes proper take-offs and cut lengths, generated from field measurements, plan view drawings and P&IDs.
bility to field route piping where appropriate and required by the client.
Working with welded, threaded, Victaulic piping, carbon, and stainless steel.
bility to pass an ASME 6G 6 " Carbon Steel SMAW Pipe Test OR ability to pass ASME 2" GTAW pipe test to X-ray quality is required.
Work involves butt weld and socket weld of carbon & stainless-steel process piping (SCH 10, SCH 40, SCH 80 wall thickness). Socket Weld up to 2 " diameter. Butt weld up to 8 " diameter. Welding will be performed in various positions, at various heights. Some welding work will be performed out of manlifts and/or scissor lifts.
bility to set up the welding rig to your preferences, based on the environment and material being welded.
Requirements:
Flexibility to travel between projects on a daily and/or weekly basis.
Driver's License and have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite. Own Transportation and willingness to work within the MAIC region (MD, Southern PA, Northern VA, Eastern WV, and DE).
Flexibility to work in both clean (food-grade) and dirty (recycling facilities) environments.
Willing to work at least 40 hours per week (Mon - Thu on a (4) 10's schedule), with the flexibility to work overtime as required. Some night shift may be required, which is dependent on client needs.
Flexibility to work outside of your trade and assist others as needed.
Experience:
2-5 Years previous construction experience, preferably as a Mechanical Contractor or Prime Contractor in an industrial environment.
Understanding of plans, specifications, P&IDs, and ISOs.
Self-Starter - Ability to work alone on a project, and as part of a team.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Reliable transportation with active driver's license
US Citizen and/or Green Card Verified
Schedule:
Willing to work at least 40 hours per week, or as much as 7-12's or 4-10's dependent on project.
