JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:GENERAL LEDGER:Perform monthly close out and re-opening of GP modules along with other monthly GP system processes in support of month end close and company-wide user functionality for the new periodReview posting of sub-ledger entries daily (Series Post) and research errors/discrepancies.Upload expense files from Concur and run monthly detail report.Assist Concur review process.Analyze various general ledger accounts (including deferred revenue, inventory (Revenue Rec), sales commissions accrued) and accurately reconcile the data between the subledger and general ledger.Communicate all accounting close deadlines to company to include maintaining and sending out of monthly closing schedule.Integrate monthly payroll import into Great Plains system.Maintain Deferred Service Log of contracts sold thru SOP and monthly recognition entryIntegrate Revenue Recognition entryReview Bank Reconciliations of cash, sales tax and HR benefits accountsReview Inter-Company accounts and ensure completion of reconciliationsReview Fixed Asset accounts including CIP, acquisitions, moves and disposals including the calculation of depreciation expense as well as reconciliationsReview Security and Performance Bond Deposit accounts including reconciliationsReview journal entries and reconciliations pertaining to automobile lease, equipment rental, facilities lease, interest/other income to include interest swap, currency exchange and fixed asset gain/lossFirst level review of monthly payroll journal entry

FINANCIAL REPORTING:Prepare Shimadzu s financial statement package.Prepare Budget to Actual reportsRun and Maintain Microsoft BI reports.Monthly trending review and reporting of departmental expense accounts. Point of contact for managers when questions arise regarding departmental expenses. Make necessary journal entries.Updating of financial metrics reportsCreation of ad hoc smart list report for data analysisDIVA reporting for Shimadzu Group consolidation

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:Upload monthly A/P accrual entry

TAX

(First Level Review):Sales tax reconciliation reportReview of business taxesMonthly deferred tax asset/liability including income tax expensePayroll tax reconciliations to include quarterly 940 reconciliationsSales and use tax payment processing through TPA including exemption certificatesRecording of estimated quarterly corporate income as well as sales and use tax paymentsCompliance around business licenses and other state/local business compliance requirementsPersonal property tax completion by outside accounting firm

MISCELLANOUS:Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, preparing consolidated financial reports for Shimadzu America, Inc. and preparing any other necessary data.Manage preparation of answers for national surveys from U.S. Department of Commerce.Any other miscellaneous accounting projects as specified by manager.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:The incumbent must be proficient at effectively ensuring the accuracy of all general ledger and financial reporting results.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Incumbent is required to have a minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Accounting and nine (9) or more years relevant accounting experience with at least four (4) years supervisory experience as a Senior Accountant or higher-level position. CPA is preferred.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position will supervise accounting level personnel within the accounting department, to include but not limited to, performance reviews, disciplinary issues, interviewing and hiring.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The position requires physical demands which may include frequent bending; stooping, squatting, talking, standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards. Incumbent is required to follow proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures.WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is based in an office area that requires regular and predictable attendance. It will involve working alone on projects and collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at different workstations during the day and travel to regional locations in order to support the accounting needs of all company employees. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position.
