Job description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the daily operations of the finance and accounting department for SGI Global. The CFO is responsible for timely planning, implementing, managing, budgeting and controlling all financial-related activities of the company (accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, investor relations and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing, to name a few) for SGI Global.
Responsibilities:
CFO will report directly to the board and coordinate with the board on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections; cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis
Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally
Support new business development through expert analysis and planning and provide strong oversight and influence on all contracts for the company
Serve as the liaison with third parties (Auditors, Banks, lawyers, and clients) and ensure the necessary technological tools and resources are implemented and managed
Assist the firm in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective program budgets, and in determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery
Monitor project charges, new charge codes and closed charge codes
Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions
Establish effective internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
Proposes long-range, strategic financial plans, including cash flow projections
Responsible for competitively pricing future business pursuits/proposals
Responsible for preparation, processing and reconciliation of: accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card accounts, and other activities
Responsible for being hands on, managing individuals and taking initiative on finance and other matters within the firm (including Operational tasks).
Provides special and routine reports on budget execution, cash and debt status, as requested by the board
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement
Coordinate with Corporate Tax Accountant on the preparation of tax returns and filings, including conversion from accrual to cash
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
CPA preferred
Proficient in Excel
Experience pricing government contract proposals.
Knowledge/understanding of GSA MAS contracts
Required to be hands-on and "roll up your sleeves"
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required
A minimum of 10 years' experience in Accounting
Five (5) to seven (7) years of financial and management experience with day-to-day financial operations of an organization; expertise in the setup and creation of financial and controlling processes
Knowledge of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements for government contractors
Knowledge of various accounting systems including at a minimum Unanet
Experience with overseas programs/contracts (including insurance, bank accounts, local labor law compliance)
Experience with Service Contract Act programs preferred
