Position Purpose Summary:
To provide college level student(s) with a full and meaningful BlueLinx work experience (6-8 weeks) supporting the Branch location. Ideally, the successful candidate will gain a positive, meaningful, and engaged experience by participating in a rotational work assignment that exposes them to various aspects of the business. Examples include: Sales, Marketing, P&L, Operations, Logistics, and Branch Administration.
KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Varies based on functionality:
Assists in supporting sales/marketing teams
Reviews quotes and sales orders via Agility system
Participates in pulling and reviewing orders for customer delivery
Provides feedback and shares ideas regarding "yard" and warehouse re-alignments
Reviews P&L; pricing; margin management to gain an understanding of branch financials
Delivers formal presentation at end of internship (TBD by General Manager)
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Certifications: NA
Educational Requirements: Completion of sophomore or junior year from an accredited college/university; MBA candidates; OR students pursuing a degree from a technical college
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
