**Description**

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) will administer the intake function, on behalf of Fairfax County Department of Social Service, for the Countys COVID-19 Emergency Hotel Program. The Program consists of five hotel sites, with 450 emergency beds available to Fairfax County residents in need of quarantine and/or isolation as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis. The COVID-19 Emergency Hotel intake hotline will operate 12 hours per day/seven days per week. The hours of operation will be 9am to 9pm, Sunday to Saturday. The QPID/Hotel (Quarantine, Protection, Isolation and Decompression) sites are designed to serve persons who are (1) high risk of severe illness, (2) need to be served at a QPID site to reduce shelter capacity to support social distancing, (3) have tested positive for COVID-19, (4) are symptomatic and pursuing testing or are awaiting testing for COVID-19, or (5) have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Intake Specialist will be responsible for coordinating hotel entry with the four identified Emergency Hotel vendors via the programs intake hotline. **Work will primarily be done over the phone from a remote work environment.**

**Essential Job Duties****:** *To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with known disabilities to perform the essential functions.*

* Answer inquiry calls from potential clients and community partners in:

+ Determining the hotel and room number that the eligible client will be assigned to;

+ Coordinating medical transportation and arrival with the assigned hotel;

+ Reviewing hotel guest expectations, policies and procedures upon their arrival to the hotel site via phone.

* Conduct comprehensive initial screening process to determine eligibility for program services, providing assessment, intake and enrollment where appropriate.

* Maintain and perform data entry to ensure that client data is unduplicated.

* Maintain current level of knowledge on program software Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other required information as it relates to workflow.

* Participate in regular supervision with Intake Coordinator by providing regular updates.

* Make referrals to other services as needed and work with other community providers to provide collaborative services to clients.

* Maintains client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.

**Qualification and Additional Requirements:** *An individual may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential job duties.*

* At minimum a high school diploma or GED required

* At least one (1) year of related work experience in direct service required

* Oral and written fluency in English required; bilingual skills in guest languages (such as Spanish) preferred

* Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.

* Must be able to comfortably, calmly, clearly and effectively communicate with clients over the phone

* Must be able to demonstrate respect and understanding of client situations

* May be called upon to work beyond normal working hours according to assigned shift hours

* Must stay awake and answer calls at all times during shift

* Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability

* Successful completion of background checks required upon hire
