As a Finance Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of our local office operations.

Position Overview: The Finance Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting financial activities. This position involves working closely with the Program Director, Program Manager and Case Managers to facilitate financial aid distribution to clients and maintain detailed records. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to the organization's mission of aiding refugees in their resettlement process.

Key Responsibilities:

Cash Assistance Processing :
  • Review refugee cash assistance request from case managers and enter in the web invoicing system for processing
  • Communicate with finance team about printing checks for clients
  • Process invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare payments.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.

Budget Monitoring:
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the organization's budget.
  • Track and report on budget variances.

Financial Recordkeeping/tracking:
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records on financial spreadsheet
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Bank Reconciliation:
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor and report on cash flow activities.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Generate and analyze financial reports as required by management.
  • Prepare reports for external stakeholders, including funders and auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with program guidelines and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation for audits and provide necessary documentation.

Collaboration:
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to stay updated on program changes and requirements.
  • Work closely with Case Management team and Finance department to gather financial information and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide financial information and reports to assist decision-making processes.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in finance or accounting roles is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the refugee population.
