Summary

The Sports section of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD) prepares young professionals for many different positions in today's Sports Industry. The Sports Department of CRPD is currently offering many opportunities for young professionals to gain experience in multiple realms of Athletic Administration, Event Management, and Facility Maintenance throughout the City of Columbus.

Employees working in the Sports Section of CRPD will experience approaches to financial, social, and management practices in the sports and recreation industry in a large and growing city. Each position allows the opportunity for hands on experience and real responsibilities that will empower and prepare employees for work in sports operations around the nation!

All job opportunities begin in our Gym Complexes managing program schedules and recreational activities. This Sports Section schedules and prepares tournaments, recreation league play, and other small events in multiple gym complexes throughout the City of Columbus (including Willis Complex in northeast Columbus, Cleo Complex in Bexley, McDonald Complex in Worthington, Big Run Complex near Briggs, and Berliner Complex Downtown).

Essential Functions and Duties

* Athletic Administration (Work with programmers in the administrative office to report on games and practices, weekly/daily events and projects).

* Event Management (On site management of recreation league play and tournament operations during basketball, volleyball, and futsal throughout the City of Columbus, assisting customers, facilitating parking, and much more).

* Facility Maintenance (Gym floor maintenance, Court setup, Restroom maintenance, Collecting and disposing of trash).

Requirements, Wages, and Hours

Work hours will vary depending on availability and level of responsibility. Hours on weekdays are primarily in the evening with most shifts beginning at 5:30 PM. Availability on weekends and in the evening during the week is a requirement for this position. There is a great deal of flexibility to accommodate student's school schedules during Spring and Fall Terms.

People in this position can expect to work in a variety of weather conditions. Possession of a valid drivers license is a condition of employment for this position. Opportunities will begin at $9.50 an hour. Wages are open for discussion based on experience.
