iBlack Washington, DC, United States iBlack is an early stage startup with a mission to become the leading lifestyle portal for black America. We host up to 30 unique lifestyle events per month such as formal events, tastings, "learn how to" classes, nightlife tours and parties, seminars, guided tours, online trainings, and special events like New Year's Eve and other Holiday parties.

The work is a lot of fun, very social, and is an ideal experience for people with entrepreneurial aspirations. We are looking for people who are reliable, have excellent social skills, well organized with great communication and collaboration skills.

Opportunity

We're looking for Event Staff to help execute our unique lifestyle events. The hours are very flexible. Events will be posted monthly and staff can self-schedule their hours. You must be available to work a minimum of 2 events per month.

This is not full or part time employment. Staff will work on a per event basis, however the staff selected have the opportunity for high level full time employment with the ability to receive company stock options upon completing certain initiatives. This is an extremely unique opportunity for a group of very motivated individuals to join a business with experienced entrepreneurs. The experiences gained from this position will be unparalleled and invaluable and can set each of these individuals up to be incredibly financially successful.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for day-of event tasks
  • Assisting at check-in for small and large events
  • Greeting customers and enhancing their experience at the event
  • Handing out iBlack and sponsors promotional materials
  • Set up and clean up of equipment on day-of the event (if necessary)
  • Encourage customers to interact through social media


Skills
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Be genuine, confident, flexible and fun
  • Love to be "hands on"
  • You are customer service driven (Customer service is of ultimate importance to our company. If you are not good with people or handling customer, please do not apply for this opportunity.)


Requirements:
  • Must be 21+ years old
  • Able to work at least 2 events per month
  • Able to lift/move up to 50lbs
  • Have transportation
  • Flexible schedule


Compensation:
  • Starting at $10 per hour, Each event last an average of 3 hours per event.
  • Opportunity to work in a fasted paced and exciting internet startup
